The harmonized European standards for solid fuel burning appliances together with national emission requirements are an important contribution both to product safety and to health, environmental and consumer protection.They define the technical requirements and emission requirements for solid fuel burning appliances.

The manufacturer requests the entry ino the HKI database and submits the necessary test reports, including the installation and operating instructions as well as the declaration of performance, to the HKI. When entering the product data in the database, the HKI Industry Association checks and assesses whether the requirements of the standards are being met.
